Handcrafted from estate grown, handpicked fruit, the Clos d'Argentine Gran Corte 2017 is an amazing high elevation blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc from one of our all-time favorite producers: Alma de los Andes. Sourced from their estate vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley, these two sub-regions within Mendoza offer a perfect growing climate of warm days and cool nights. This phenomenon allows the grapes to achieve excellent fruit and tannin concentration, which is responsible for the wine's structure. Think Bordeaux with a modern twist, the Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine typical aromas of red and black fruits: cherries, plums and jam while the Malbec & Cabernet Franc adds dark fruit and tannins. Aged 12 months in new French oak, woven together with layers of floral and cedar notes. Rated 92 points by Wine & Spirits and 91 points from The Wine Enthusiast at the original release price of $42, we negotiated a Wine of the Month deal to drop the price to $12.99 a bottle!
"Dark and rich, this blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc packs in fruit and spice. It is buoyant and lively, ripe yet cool, with an evergreen note perking up the black-raspberry fruit; black-pepper spice gives it extra lift and drive." Wine & Spirits, 92 Points
"Ripe berry, cherry and plum aromas offer an enticing hint of sweet cookie dough. There's nothing shy about the palate, which hammers at first before calming. Blackberry, savory notes and chocolaty oak flavors offset the wine's natural piercing intensity." The Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points
