If you've never had a Fleurie before, you're in for a real treat! A wine of great complexity, Fleurie has a highly perfumed bouquet evoking fresh raspberry, black cherries, and violets, plus an intense mineral overtone. On the palate, the red fruit flavors put on weight and become spicier with time. The 2021 Gilles Coperet Les Roches comes from one of the best-known vineyards in Fleurie. A 65 year-old cru vineyard, which expresses the highly granitic soils of the appellation perfectlly. Medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity and plenty of lovely tart red cherry fruit on the elegant finish. The 2021 is very Burgundy-like, and one of our French favorites for under $20!
"What an attractive nose of violets this Fleurie has. A firmly structured wine for this appellation with serious tannins that give it excellent definition. Long, powerful and focused finish. From 60 year old vines. Sustainable. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 93 Points
