Calling all Burgundy fans, the Latour Marsanny 2022 is one of the best of the year. The powerhouse negociant, Maison Louis Latour crafted an outstanding Marsannay Rouge in 2022. 100% Pinot Noir, this is an outstanding value for a village-level wine. Marsannay is the northernmost commune of the Cote d'Or, lying on the outskirts of Dijon, three miles north of Gevrey Chambertin. Marsannay was granted its own A.O.C. appellation in 1987, and became the first village for which the appellation applies to red, white and rose wines. Latour crafts one of the more intense Marsannay offerings with notes of wild blackberries, dried prunes and blackcurrants. Would be an excellent pairing for Julia Child's version of Beef Bourguignon. A stunning value under $30, these don't come around too often!
"For a moderate price, here is Cote de Nuits complexity, earthy and floral, and wonderful sour cherry fruit. All of this is underlined by elegant tannins and mineral energy on the medium-bodied palate. Impressive polish in the long finish. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 93 Points
