With Thanksgiving a month away, the 1er Cru Cote de Lechet 2022 from Simonnet-Febvre makes our mouth water for a traditional holiday feast! The famed stoney terrior of Cote de Lechet is located on the left bank of the Serein, which enjoys excellent south-east exposure, and their low yields often ripen early due to the abundance of sunshine. Chablis distinctive minerality comes from the limestone soils, which actually contain millions of tiny marine fossils which may have been the sea floor hundreds of millions of years ago. This marine origin gives the wines of Cote de Lechet their unique flavor (briny, lightly floral) and because of its fuller nature, the 2022 takes its place among the great vintages. We've seen other single vineyard Chablis that are "next to" Cote de Lechet sell for over $50 a bottle, so it's practically unheard of to get the real deal for $39.99 plus free shipping. Only 20 cases available. Don't miss it!
"Very attractive ripe pear nose with hints of flint and white flowers. Excellent combination of depth and ripeness, with coolness and chalky minerality on the well-structured, medium-bodied palate. Beautiful interplay of restrained creaminess and delicate minerality in the long finish. Fermented and matured exclusively in stainless steel. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 93 Points
