Rated 92 Points from The Wine Spectator at the release price of $85 a bottle, this full-bodied red from Bodegas Ego has been one of our top selling wines over the past three years! An alluring blend of 70% Monastrell, 20% Syrah and 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in premium new oak barrels sourced from estate vineyards in Jumilla. The region's native Monastrell is one of the most prized varieties of Mediterranean Europe, and on account of the reliably hot, dry summers, ripeness is rarely an issue. Showcasing a core of black cherry, plum and blackcurrant, with good depth and a hint of smokiness. Dark berry flavors become even richer with air and the palate is rich with fine, abundant tannins and a mouth coating finish. If you were a fan of the spectacular 2015 vintage, the 2016 is even better!
"This big red is bold yet balanced. Blackberry and currant flavors are ripe yet remain fresh, backed by licorice, cocoa, sanguine and blood orange notes. The muscular tannins are well-integrated, giving way to a floral finish. Monastrell, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2028." The Wine Spectator, 92 Points
