97 Points, Platinum Medal, and "Best in Show" at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards, this single vineyard Malbec from Callejon del Crimen is amazing for the price. No small feat as this charming red beat out big names from California like Trefethen, Clos de Val, Joel Gott, Hahn, and DuMol. Sourced from twenty-five year old vineyards in Gualtallary, it's here in the Uco Valley that some of the best Malbec's in the world is grown at elevations reaching 1,500 meters. There is an inherent freshness to the reds crafted here, which have the potential to become the greatest winemaking region in Argentina. Dark violet in the glass with floral aromas and rich, ripe blackberry, plum and chocolate notes melted with blackcurrant and cassis display an excellent balance and freshness. If you've ever passed on Malbec thinking it's one-dimensional, the Callejon del Crimen is a perception altering bottle.
"Perfumed and very inviting on the nose, with gorgeous, expressive fresh red berry aromatics, and then on to a velvety palate laced with lush black fruit, graceful yet focused tannins and a beautiful, clean mineral texture. Platinum Medal. Best in Show 2022 DWWA." Decanter Magazine, 97 Points
