Famous long before the wine region of Barolo even existed, the "cru" or top vineyard of Cannubi are home to some of the most elegant, complex and structured Italian red wines. Cascina Adelaide, sourced from the western side of Cannubi, expresses the nobility of this vineyard perfectly. It's a wine of great class that showcases the elegance of Barolo, with a brilliant garnet red color, leading to exuberant notes of fruit and spices, full and velvety with a long finish. We actually popped a bottle of Cannubi last night, and can personally attest to the beautiful, fruit forward nature of Cascina Adelaide, with bright acidity and longevity in the cellar. Just starting to hit its four decade drinking window, we recommend letting the bottle breathe for an hour before serving. A steal at $59.99, don't miss the lowest price in the whole USA for Cannubi Barolo!

James Suckling: 93 Points

"Really tight on the nose now, with hints of leafy red berries, deep minerals and sous-bois notes. Full-bodied, but very closed and intense, with everything lurking under the surface, from the spicy red-berries to the fine, dense and lightly firm tannins. Incredibly compact, in fact. But refined and evenly balanced, too, just waiting to blossom. Give it time to do so. A pleasure to taste now, though. Try from 2024." James Suckling, 93 Points

Wine Advocate: 93 Points

"The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is dark and saturated in color, offering a slightly warmer and riper taste profile that is a consequence of the thinner soils of this famous growing site. You get a lot of extra material in this wine, whether it be aromas or mouthfeel texture, and the main themes focus on dark berries, crushed limestone, spice, incense and red rose potpourri. Production is 4,500 bottles." The Wine Advocate, 93 Points

Wine Spectator: 92 Points

"This beefy red packs an umami punch, in the form of sautéed mushroom, earth, bouillon and tar flavors wrapped around a core of plum, with dense tannins shoring up the finish. Best from 2025 through 2040. 670 cases made, 300 cases imported." The Wine Spectator, 92 Points
