A former "wine producer of the year" from Le Grand Guide des Vins de France, winemaker Alain Brumont crafts some of the best $20 reds in France. Brumont has put the obscure village of Madiran in Gascony back on the wine map, and some of his blends are considered full-bodied styled Bordeaux. For his Chateau Bouscasse 2018, he blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc with Tannat, a varietal native to Southwest France. Aromas of dark cherries and rich spice notes are the hallmarks of Tannat, with structured tannins and an ability to age for 10-20 years. If you're a fan of French reds, this is a must have!
