Domaine de Cristia was established in 1942 with only 2 hectares of Grenache vines. Brother and sister team, Baptiste and Dominique Grangeon are now running the winery, and they have 13 hectares of vines in Chateauneuf du Pape spread over four different lieu-dits. 90% of the vines are in the lieu-dits named "Cristia," hence the name of the estate Domaine de Cristia. Their Syrah and Mourvedre average 50 years-old and they have some Grenache that is over 100 years-old. The estate has been certified organic since 2008.
"The base cuvée from this fabulous family estate is the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, which is based on 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah brought up in a mix of foudre and concrete tank. It's a fleshy, forward, delicious 2020 revealing plenty of spicy red and black fruits, medium to full body, ripe, rounded tannins, and some classic peppery garrigue and leather nuances. Drink it over the coming 8-10 years." Jeb Dunnuck, 91 Points
