The top rated White Bordeaux listed under $25, the Domaine de la Solitude has a 170 year history of being owned by the community of the holy family. In 1993, the sisters decided to entrust the vineyard management to Olivier Bernard, owner of Domaine de Chevalier, with a lease of 40 years. Twenty years later, Bernard is now making some of the best white Bordeaux in Pessac-Léognan. Sourced from a seven hectare vineyard of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, most of the production is only sold in France, exceedingly rare for enough cases to be available in the US to promote. While the 2020 vintage of Chevalier Blanc is now being sold for $150+ a bottle, the Domaine de la Solitude represents one of the best values of the year. Only 10 cases left. Don't miss it!
"Sliced lemons and pear drops with some hints of cream. Limes. Full-bodied with a creamy and delicious palate of dried fruits and hints of nougat." James Suckling, 94 Points
"Shows nice brightness, with fleur de sel notes out front that give this zing from the get-go, followed by pink grapefruit oil, gooseberry and bitter almond hints. The fleur de sel takes an encore on the finish for zip. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2027." The Wine Spectator, 93 Points
