Calling all California Cabernet Sauvignon lovers, Bordeaux lovers...you don't want to miss this amazing new wine from Vina Maquis. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carmenere barrel aged for 24 months in French oak. Maquis is all about the vineyards and pedigree of winemaker Xavier Chone. Xavier has one of the most impressive resumes in the wine world. He got his start at the famed second growth Bordeaux Chateau Leoville Las Cases and then crossed the Atlantic to work at Joseph Phelps, Opus One and Dominus. Along the way he's also consulted for Cheval Blanc and Chateau d’Yquem. We don't know of another winemaker with these credentials.
"Part of a brilliant current range of red wines from Rodrigo Romero and Maquis, Lien is a very good value assemblage of Cabernet Franc with 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Carmenère. Graphite, bay leaf and green salad aromas segue into a palate of sweet spices, filigree tannins, blueberry, cassis and black cherry fruit and a bright, balanced finish" Tim Atkin, MW 95 Points
"Cocoa powder savoriness to the black cherries, dried herbs and tobacco leaf. A twist of cigar box. Very polished on the palate with natural, fresh acidity and a supple mouthfeel. Refined, silky and long. Nothing showy and super drinkable. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 94 Points
