The only Latin American winemaker to obtain 100 points from Robert Parker, Marcelo Pelleriti is a tour de force. His day job is winemaker at Monteviejo and the Bordeaux properties of the Pere-Verge family, Chateau Le Gay in Pomerol. We've also featured his own projects before, Felipe Staiti Vertigo Red Blend (97 Points) but at a much higher price point: $24.99. With Malacara, a more value oriented brand, Pelleriti showcase the high elevation vineyards of Argentina's famed Maipu wine region. A blend of 80% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 8 months in new French oak, he's looking for a balance between the ripe fruit and a sophisticated medium-bodied palate.
"This is a fruity red with some walnut and dark-chocolate character. Medium body with notes of toasted oak. Slightly lean finish, but very good. Vegan. Sustainable. Drink now." James Suckling, 90 Points
"The ripe, dense and juicy 2020 Oak Cask Red Blend was produced with 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah. It has ripe fruit, some balsamic and creamy oak with spices and smoke from the six to nine months it spent in medium-toast French oak barrels. It has good fruit and is ripe at 14.5% alcohol but without excess, with freshness and good drinkability." The Wine Advocate, 90 Points
