This 2016 Reserva comes from high elevation vineyards in Mendavia, aged 24 months in French & American Oak, we simply couldn't believe the price at tasting. Elevation equals elegance, lending this Rioja incredible acidity and freshness that you would typically find in $50+ bottles like Remelluri. Dark aromas of black cherry and raspberry mingle with cloves and dried herbs, leading to a medium-bodied palate of vibrant red fruit flavors and polished tannins. For Under $15, this may become our new favorite BBQ wine. Even at its modest price, this Rioja Reserva might last a decade!
"A rich, rounded red with plums and dried fruit. Surprisingly ripe. Full and layered with soft tannins and lots going on. Verges on jammy, but comes around nicely. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 91 Points
"Raspberry and plum scents, while this reserva is taught and wiry on a firm palate. Red cherry, plum and hard spice flavors show a pinch of green herbs, while the finish is lightly oaked and peppery, with some of the same grittiness noted on the nose." The Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points
