One of California's hottest new projects, My Favorite Neighbor from Eric Jensen has been turning heads from their vineyards in Paso Robles. What started as an homage to Stephan Asseo of L’Aventure and his Bordeaux roots quickly became an obsession. Stretching wide across the westside hills of Paso Robles is clay soil amazingly similar to those found in Napa and Bordeaux. Today, these special sites are farmed meticulously by the farmers who have become Eric's favorite neighbors. With their dedication to the land, Jensen is able to craft this world class wine without any shortcuts or compromises. The 2021 Chardonnay bursts from the glass with aromas of Meyer lemon, yellow apple, Asian pear and just a hint of pineapple. Rounding out the palate are flavors of creme fraiche and toffee, offering balance and a long finish. With prices for top notch California Chardonnay fetching record prices, it's amazing to find a wine of this caliber for under $30 a bottle!
"The 2021 MFN Blanc Chardonnay is very ripe in style with scents of banana chip, apple pie, jasmine, allspice and brown sugar. The full-bodied palate is packed with ripe, spicy fruits and plenty of refreshing acidity, and it finishes long with a satiny, mouth-coating texture. It's an old-school style reminiscent of Napa that fans of ripe, oaked Chardonnays will enjoy." The Wine Advocate, 97 Points
