Prices for Sancerre got you down? It's crazy expensive, so you can believe how excited we are to get our hands on this Coteaux du Giennois from one of our favorite producers Pascal Jolivet. Sourced from 30+ year old vineyards across the Loire River from Sancerre, Jolivet has crafted an open and expressive version of Sauvignon Blanc that keeps the bright aromatics with a playful, fruit forward palate, while maintaining that "fume" smokiness from what is essentially a northern extension of Pouilly Fume. A beautiful expression of Sauvignon Blanc with high toned floral notes, minerality and a bit more suppleness than you traditionally find in Sancerre, all in perfect balance.
"This gold-colored wine has an aromatic nose of pureed apple, clove and vanilla baking spice, quince, brioche, toasted walnuts, ginger and orange peel. The creamy-textured wine is fruit forward with an underlying baking spice that imparts depth and focus. As with many things that get better with age, you can drink now, but this wine will continue to improve in the bottle until 2029. Editor's Choice." The Wine Enthusiast, 93 Points
