If the name Paul Hobbs sounds familiar, he's one of the most sought-after winemakers in the world. Forbes has called him the "Steve Jobs of Wine," and was twice named Wine Personality of the Year by Robert Parker. First hired by Robert Mondavi for his expertise in oak aging, he was hand picked for the inaugural vintage of Opus One, the famed joint venture with Mouton Rothschild. Unheard of to get a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon made by Paul for $25, but that's exactly what you get. The 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet vintage belongs in an echelon with the finest of the past two decades. It was absent of challenges that plagued many of the previous years as the Pillar & Post show control, poise and transparency between vineyard and appellation.
"This expressive Cabernet Sauvignon is made by the famous winemaker Paul Hobbs! Ripe and polished with a burst of black currant, cassis, blackberry and boysenberry notes lined with dark chocolate and black licorice flavors. The long finish accents the nice balance between the upfront fruit and fine tannins." The Wine Buyer, 93+ Points
"An inviting an approachable Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of tart cranberry red cherry and chocolate shavings. Bright red fruits on the palate are complemented by balance tannins and refreshing acidity which combine to make this an excellent weeknight wine." The Tasting Panel, 93 Points
