Campagna's premier estate and winner of a dozen Tre Bicchieri awards, the wines from Salvatore Molettieri are some of the best in Italy. Molettieri burst onto the scene with the 1988 vintage and their sustainably farmed vineyards now extend for thirteen hectares in Montemarano, historically one of the two finest crus of the appellation. Steve Tanzer says "Molettieri owns some of the best-located vineyards in Taurasi and his wines are textbook, uncompromising examples of what Aglianico can do here." If you've never had a wine from Taurasi before, Aglianico is known throughout Southern Italy for its full flavored characteristics. An intense bouquet reveals ample amounts of ripe blackberries and spice notes with fine grained tannins surrounding a soft, velvety, lingering finish. The wine closes with 15% alcohol, and you definitely feel that power. That's why they age the Vigna Cinque Querce in both barrique and large oak casks for almost four years!

Vinous Media: 92 Points

"The dark and dusty-styled 2014 Taurasi Vigna Cinque Querce opens slowly in the glass, as black cherries and plums give way to hints of sage and smoke. Its textures are wonderfully silky in feel, yet offset by a salty mix of acids and minerals that give way to tart wild berries and inner violet florals. It tapers off long, lightly structured and remarkably fresh for such a young Taurasi, with nuanced tannins that mingle with sour cherry to create a slightly chewy yet highly enjoyable finale. The 2014 may not possess the concentration and power of the best vintages, but it instead impresses with its sculpted feel, savoriness and earlier appeal. That said, a year or two of cellaring is still recommended." Vinous Media, 92 Points

Wine Spectator

"An elegant version that marries fine tannins and lightly juicy acidity with a creamy range of dried black cherry, stemmy herb, smoke and sandalwood notes that linger on the finish. Drink now through 2029." The Wine Spectator, 91 Points
