If you haven't tried the Rieslings made by wunderkind Martin Tesch, now is the time! His Trocken Konigsschild 2019 is a "drop everything" white, with huge scores from James Suckling, Robert Parker, and The Wine Spectator. The key word to describe this Riesling is "dry." When he took over the family-owned winery in 1996, Martin stopped producing sweet wines. He changed the label designs to some of the coolest in Germany, and reduced their collection to five single-vineyard whites. Loaded with explosive flavors and bracing acidity, The Wine Advocate calls the 2019 Rieslings "more than excellent and includes some wines that might even be the finest he (Tesch) has produced." Round and intense on the palate, with a dense and concentrated texture, you don't want to miss this increddible white under $20!
"Beautifully balanced, with a mix of orchard and tropical fruit all linked by finely integrated acidity, which provides a jolt midpalate. Mineral accents linger in the background giving this a crunchy textural element and hints of smoke. Well-balanced and long. Best from 2022 through 2031. 1,500 cases made, 500 cases imported."
