Recognized for its high-altitude microclimate, Napa Valley's first sub-AVA produces distinctively structured Cabernet Sauvignon, and is home to some of the best red wine vineyards in the world. It's also loaded with hidden gems as Howell Mountain has never been a popular tourist destination, especially in relation to other districts like Oakville, Rutherford and Yountville. In fact, many people drive right through Howell Mountain without noticing, and most tours don't venture that far up the Silverado trail. It's a shame because Howell Mountain is known for some of the biggest, boldest, and most expensive wines in Napa.
"This Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits impressive concentration and structure. The dark fruit flavors persist, with black cherry, blackberry, and plum leading the way. There is a beautiful interplay between fruit and savory elements, with nuances of graphite, leather, and earth adding complexity. Notes of ripe plum and cassis add depth, while subtle hints of cedar, tobacco, and dark chocolate emerge with aeration. The finish is long and lingering, leaving traces of dark fruit and spice."
