If you've never had a wine from Fleurie before, you're in for a real treat! This is a red French wine of great complexity, with a highly perfumed bouquet evoking fresh raspberry, black cherries and violets, plus an intense mineral overtone. On the palate, the fruit flavors put on weight and become spicier with some time. The Gilles Coperet La Madone comes from one of the best-known vineyards in Fleurie, as this cru vineyard expresses the highly granitic soils of the appellation. Medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity and plenty of lovely tart red cherry fruit on the elegant finish. Very Burgundy-like, this is one of our favorite French Reds to serve at Thanksgiving!
"A fresh and focused Fleurie with plums, red cherries, violets and a touch of moss on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a serious savory undertone to the fruit. Drink now or hold." James Suckling, 92 Points
