Barbera is the hottest Italian red wine in our stores right now, and September is the perfect month to re-introduce this gem from Carlo Volpi. While the region is primarily known for two Nebbiolo based wines Barolo and Barbaresco, the Italians themselves generally pop the cork on a Barbera for their daily vino. Why? Because an excellent Babera like the Volpi Ballerina Rosso is chalk full or ripe red fruits, smooth tannins, excellent balance and a pretty finish.
"This Barbera from Carlo Volpi exhibits great balance and is well rounded. Loads of cherries and dark fruit with a hint of oak and is silky and lush on the finish." The Wine Buyer, 92 Points
