Bordeaux is made famous by its big names. Places like Chateau Haut Brion, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite, Latour and Margaux. But combined, these historic classified properties represent less than 5% of the overall wine production in the region. That leaves 95% other vineyards that benefit from the same vintage conditions and are sold at a fraction of the price. In that regard, The Wine Buyer is very excited about the Chateau Le Grand Moulin from the right bank village of Saint Aubin de Blaye. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec, crafted by Jean-Francois Reaud who family has owned the property since 1904. Voted Medaille d'or (Gold Medal) at the famed Paris Le Concours Général Agricole.
"This is a rich wine, packed with black fruits and dark-chocolate flavors. It is a structured wine, with a super-ripe character that is leavened by final freshness. Drink from 2025." The Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points
"Refined plushness with a touch of dark chocolate to the cassis, hibiscus and peppermint. Juicy and bright on the palate with a medium body and firm, lightly chewy tannins. Good density on the mid-palate. Drink now or hold." James Suckling, 90 Points
